Japanese research is utilizing state-of-the-art Japanese-developed technology to better understand the ocean and ocean currents through satellite data, ocean sensors, and the “Earth Simulator”, one of the world’s leading supercomputers. Not only harnessing the potential of the Kuroshio and Oyashio currents for the fishing industry, but Japan is also looking at the ocean currents as a renewable energy source, altogether helping to build a sustainable future for Japan and the world.
