Oribe-ryu Tea Ceremony featuring Beihaku Ozaki During the 16th century a Buddhist Monk named Sen-No-Rikyu fused together key aspects of refined Japanese culture and created the philosophy of sado “the way of tea” and the tea ceremony as it is known today was born.Furita Oribe, one of Rikyu’s seven disciples would establish his own “school” of tea ceremony, which through centuries of major upheaval, death and rebirth would become known as the “forbidden school of sado”...
